Jessie, Tommy and I worked closely with the events team to create an aquatic identity for the fourth annual “Benefit” fundraising gala. Our goal was to heighten the sophistication from the previous year’s youthful theme, and incorporate nautical, deep ocean, and fantastical themes. We landed on an opulent, handcrafted look that incorporated ink drawings paired with heavily-saturated indigo watercolor textures, and story-driven content inspired by maritime adventures. This high-profile event was an incredible opportunity to push boundaries in print design, video production and environmental design. The logo’s type was completely custom and handmade! The invitation featured dreamy etchings, and the opening video was created with an ambitious combination of 3-D and stop-motion animation. Event collateral included: print and digital communications, ambient large-format print for bar décor, directional signage, tablescapes with auction bid paddles and pamphlets, and video content to pull the show together. More than 1,700 guests helped raise $5.1 million for the Children’s Tumor Foundation and Neurofibromatosis (NF) research.
